Governor Alex Otti of Abia says security intelligence showed that the ransoms paid for kidnapped victims were always dropped off around the Umuchieze Cattle Market in Lokpanta of Umunneochi Local Government Area (LGA). Mr Otti, during the monthly media parley at the Government   House, Umuahia, said this was discovered after several electronic equipment were installed in different parts of the state. “A few weeks ago, we found that a lot of the ransom that was paid for kidnapping ended up somewhere around Umunneochi LGA. “We decided to dominate the place, and what we saw was shocking. EFCC Parades 15 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Enugu Operatives of the Enugu Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested 15( Fifteen) suspected internet fraudsters in the Enugu metropolis, Enugu state. They were arrested on Friday, October 20, 2023 following credible intelligence on their alleged involvement in internet-related offences. The suspects are; Casmir Ibebuogu Chizaram, Emegbusim Emmanuel Nnamdi, Chinedu Nworji, Nzube Micheal, Oranusi Chigozie Slyvester, Francis Mbaeri, Okoro Ugonna Prince, Stanley Amobi. Others are; Emegbusim Chukwuka, Nlemoha Kingsley, Ejiofor Franklin, Chidera Peter, Chidiebube Chukwula Peter, Innocent Chukwuka Peter and Micheal Eche. Items recovered from the suspects are: 30 mobile phones, one international passport and four laptops.

As the strike action embarked upon by lecturers of Kogi State University Anyingba clocks 150 days, the Academic Staff Union of Universities in the institution has accused governor Yahaya Bello of misinforming Nigerians through the media about the payment of lecturers’ salaries. Chairman of ASUU kogi State chapter, Daniel Aina, who stated this during an interview with journalists in Lokoja, slammed the government for their insincerity over the plight of education in the state. He said the government had failed to put genuine effort to meet the demands of the aggrieved lecturers. “The state government is doing practically nothing to resolve the crisis. What we have heard from the Government is that he is paying salaries as at when due which is far from the truth. “Some of our lectures were last paid in March, while others were paid 13 months ago”, he alleged. The Lagos State Government has arrested 100 suspected members of the dreaded cult group, Badoo, who have been terrorising residents of the state, especially in the Ikorodu axis. The state government also cautioned residents to desist from carrying out jungle justice on suspected members of the gang, as the government would leave no stone unturned to bring the perpetrators of any dastardly act to justice. For some time now, members of the Badoo cult group have been fingered in violent killings in Ikorodu axis, a development which had prompted some suspected members of the group to be lynched through mob action.
