Breaking News: The Governor of Abia state,Dr. Alex C Otti welcome the MD/CEO ,Dr Sam Ogbuku of the Niger Delta Development Commission along with other Directors of the Commission yesterday to Abia state.

It was a pleasure to welcome the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Sam Ogbuku, along with some Directors of the Commission, to Abia State yesterday. They came for the commissioning of the Aqua Culture Training Centre in Umuahia, one of the laudable projects executed by the NDDC in our state. I congratulated Dr. Ogbuku on his well-deserved appointment and confirmation and thanked him and his team for their visit.

We also seized the opportunity to discuss some of the pressing issues affecting our state, especially the erosion menace that is threatening lives and property in several areas of Aba, Umuahia, Isuikwuato, and Umunneochi. For instance, in Ovom, a community in Aba, the road has been split into two by a massive gully, resulting in the collapse of nearby buildings. We have issued an ultimatum for the relocation of all residents in the area because we are losing more of the road every day. I appealed to the NDDC to urgently intervene and assist us in tackling the erosion, and also in completing all the unfinished projects they had initiated in the state.

We appreciated the interventions by the NDDC in Abia, stating that they have significantly contributed to our development. I also expressed confidence in the ability of Dr. Ogbuku and his team to steer NDDC to greater heights. We reaffirmed our commitment to collaborating with them to make Abia and the Niger Delta region a better place for all.

I was joined by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Kenneth Kalu, in receiving the NDDC executives.

100 suspected Badoo cult members arrested

The Lagos State Government has arrested 100 suspected members of the dreaded cult group, Badoo, who have been terrorising residents of the state, especially in the Ikorodu axis. The state government also cautioned residents to desist from carrying out jungle justice on suspected members of the gang, as the government would leave no stone unturned to bring the perpetrators of any dastardly act to justice. For some time now, members of the Badoo cult group have been fingered in violent killings in Ikorodu axis, a development which had prompted some suspected members of the group to be lynched through mob action. The 100 suspects were arrested in a joint operation carried out by men of the Lagos State Police Command, Rapid Response Squad, Odua People’s Congress, as well as local vigilantes, including Onyabo, in Ikorodu on Saturday. Abonyi Clement is a deaf man from Nigeria who has dedicated his life to helping other deaf people in his community. He is the founder of the Clement Abonyi Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides education, vocational training, and other support services to deaf people in southeastern and Western Nigeria. Clement was born deaf in a rural village in Nsukka ,southeastern Nigeria.
